            Handmade Gifts That Give Back

Today we wanted to give a shout out to some other (really fantastic) handmade businesses that donate a portion of their sales to a cause. As the holiday gift giving season approaches, please consider supporting a business that gives back to the community in some way.

Untamed Supply makes nature-inspired soy wax candles made with lead-free cotton wicks and fine fragrances. Owner E.J. Wood "has a knack for capturing nature’s pheromones."

Based in Kansas City, E.J. donates 3% of sales to National Parks.

b.e.happe designs is a modern, handmade knit and crochet accessory shop in Des Moines, IA.

Brooke donates a handmade hat to Blank Children's Hospital every time someone makes a purchase from her shop.

Support the T sells hand printed trans & queer positive apparel & merchandise created in Detroit, MI.

Lu & Ed products are one-of-a-kind eco-friendly monster toys & toy storage bags, handmade in Asheville, NC using textile discards.

Cody hand sews all her creations in a tiny home studio while mothering two awesome kiddos. $1 from every monster adopted through her shop is donated to pay outstanding school lunch debts.

Cirque Cadia Cosmetics combines a love of the circus with a passion for makeup. The vibe of their branding is so much fun!

Abigail donates a portion of every purchase to the Seattle Area Feline Rescue in Shoreline, WA.

Slightly Stationery makes chuckle-worthy products that remind us of the value the handwritten note.

Alicia donates a percentage of her sales to organizations that support education initiatives for girls around the world.

And, as always, Thumbprint Soap donates a portion of every sale to animal rescues. Our favorite rescue is Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids.

We are proud to have donated nearly $700 to various animal rescue organizations since February of 2016 (and that's just when we started keeping track).

Do you know of a business that gives back? We'd love for you to tell us about them!

I’m too busy with making for my business this time of year to make gifts, too, so I support handmade businesses as much as possible when Christmas shopping. I wish everyone would!

What great gift ideas! I love making my own handmade gifts, but always try to also buy handmade when I’m short on time or can’t quite craft that perfect gift myself.
